Hmmm. As far as I'm aware, all cases of the white screen issue are occurring on Virtual Machines. Doing some digging into Electron ( see here), it appears there are known issues running electron apps from Virtual Machines, especially those allotted with inadequate resources (such as a single core). If someone is able to provide more specific debugging information, we would be happy to investigate a solution but currently the application is not officially supported on Virtual Machines. Versions of the application are provided for Windows, Linux and Mac, so hopefully you can use the visualizer from your main/host machine while testing the sensor.
Glad to hear the Visualizer is working fine off the Virtual Machine. Even if you don't plan on using ROS, you may still want to start with the
sweep-sdk which includes bindings for various languages. The arduino platform is woefully underpowered for most applications involving sweep. You can get a way with a lot more using a Raspberry Pi and the sweep-sdk. See more here.
