I am working on a project and need to manually change the Z coordinates of all the points after a scan has been made. Is there anyway to do this?
I'm reading the question in two ways: swapping axes or adjusting the z-values.
Swapping axes *You could try using the coordinate transformation function in CloudCompare or MeshLab, both open source. CloudCompare >> Edit >> Apply transformation >> specify transformation matrix. This might help for swapping z and y axes: https://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/148974/how-to-convert-a-z-up-matrix-to-a-y-up-matrix
Changing z-values *If you just want to modify the z-values, you could export the data as a CSV, PLY, etc. and modify the z-values in numerous programs (Excel, R, MATLAB, Python, etc.). Excel should work with a moderately sized data set; not sure how it would perform with lots of points. You could also load the data into Access and run an update query. Want to try R? The "Rvcg" library can be used to load PLY vertices.
