Thanks for your insights. I've switched over to cartographer and can run the demo bagfiles that were provided, but again I'm not able to do a live mapping with the connected Sweep lidar.
The lidar is posting LaserScan data to the /scan topic and I can visualize this in RViz, but I have yet to find out how to feed this data into the cartographer node.
Would you be willing to share your launch-files etc. for cartographer?
